Vintage lingerie.

Wearable or Collectible?

Cause' everyone wants their
cleavage to look like this...

So as I have been listing and scouting out new items and I have been wondering? Do you wear the 50 year old bullet bra? Do you stare at the 50 year old nightie? Do you frame the 50 year old panties? What the heck do the buyers of these do with them?

I love this ad. She is beautiful!
I mean, I have ran across and sold all kinds of beautiful vintage lingerie. Would I wear it? Hmmmmm...from a seller stand point I should say, I only wear the finest vintage lingerie! From my real life brain ummm, no. I understand how beautiful these items are and how the quality is top notch (apparently to make it this long).  But truthfully the thought of wearing this gives me the heebie jeebies. Strangely I have no issues cleaning them or listing them or most importantly collecting the moola from them.

After doing some research, I have found these items are used for lots of things.

  Here is just a few....

Vintage Olga
featuring garters
and the bullet bra
.
One, is for inspiration. Fashion designers love these old pieces so they can study the art of how things in the past were designed. Have you noticed how the high waisted panties, corsets, and garters are coming back around? Chances are some guy in a design studio somewhere had the pleasure of "researching" someones unmentionables.

*side note* Did you know? The first corset was thought to be Circa 2000 B.C. Although it didn't become mainstream till 16th century Europe.

Two, yes people wear them.  Normal folks just like you and I love the feel of the of vintage chiffon's, silks, and lace.  You know the saying, they don't make things like they used too? Well, they don't. Also lots of photographers are using these for staged photo shoots. Which I must say some of these are beautiful.
This is looks so comfortable. Right?

Three, for upcycling. This is a trend that has been around for awhile. Turning something old into something usable and wearable for the now.  Some of these fabrics are very sought after for the sheerness not to mention quality.

I love looking at these pieces. Some are so intricate while some are just straight forward and practical. Clothes tell a story I usually want to know about who and what happened to the items I have. In this case I prefer not to think about it. As beautiful as they are unless I find a whole lot of them new with tags I won't be wearing any for my personal use. Sorry honey, I know it's hot I am just not that adventurous.

Do you wear it? Do you know anyone who does? Any other cool ideas to do with them? Let me know in the comments!
